Secret Affair

Secret Affair photo

The summer of ‘79– Quadrophenia, suited mods, and the hard r ‘n b sounds of a rash of new bands with fire in their hearts, and passion a-plenty. Back on Brighton promenade the rows of gleaming custom scooters and the echo of the best in sixties sounds banishing the shadows of punk’s nihilistic gloom. Step up Secret Affair– leading band of their time. “Time For Action” riding the charts– their new generation of mod followers– the Glory Boys– filling the UK’s dance halls with their celebration in sound. “Let Your Heart Dance”, “My World”– 30 years on and stronger, and better than before.

Back in March 2008 Secret Affair made their first ever visit to Ireland at Whelans Dublin. They performed a blinding set to a warm and enthusiastic welcome. Ramped up and ready to go with a preview of two songs from the recently released New Hearts CD (A Secret Affair) on Cherry Red Records, some reworked classic tracks, and the introduction of new member Bryn Barklam the Captain Hammond of Mother Earth, the Secret Affair line up is bigger and better than ever before.

Band Line up-Ian Page, Lead Vocals, Trumpet, Keyboard, and Dave Cairns – Guitar, complimenting the line-up are Russ Baxter on Drums and Sean Kelly on bass, with a horn section consisting of Andy Brush on Sax, Steve Rinaldi on trombone, Martyn Blagden on trumpet and new member Bryn Barklam on Hammond.
